Hosting My Own Website

Website Building Forum  hosting my own website Hey, How ya'll doing. I want to make my own forum. Unfortunately of the magnitude it's going to be it's way to big for any free stuff.I would like to keep this as low budget as possible. So here's my question. Is it possible to get a domain name and use a computer to host the website? Assuming the computer is always on and connected to the internet. One of my friends says it can be done, but he knows about computers not websites.
